Grøn Region Vestland and Northern Lights won two national awards at this year's Zero conference.
Grønn Region Vestland and Vestland County Council won the Zero Award for Local Climate Initiative of the Year. Grønn Region Vestland will help businesses achieve important goals in the green transition, with lower CO₂ emissions, increased exports and new green jobs. Næringsalliansen Vestland was one of the founding partners when the project was established in 2021.
- We would never have achieved this without the support of the Business Alliance and NHO," said project manager Heidi Synnøve Gaustad when the award was celebrated at Vestlandshuset.
Longships - of which Northern Lights in Øygarden is a key part - received the Business Climate Award. Longship is the first value chain in Europe to capture, transport and permanently store CO₂ from industry. The climate foundation Zero, NHO and NTNU are behind this award.
- "The winner receives the award because they have established an essential infrastructure for major emission reductions from Norwegian and European industry, with great commercial potential. The project will realize the largest single emission reductions in Norway, in addition to demonstrating international impact," said jury member Vikas Thakur, Dean of NTNU, during the award ceremony.
