Today is World Oceans Day, and the One Ocean Youth Panel supports this year’s call to action: strong marine protected areas for our blue planet.

The goal of World Oceans Day and the One Ocean Youth Panel is essentially the same: to bring people together to protect the ocean that binds us all. At a time when marine ecosystems are under increasing pressure from pollution, climate change, and overfishing, strong and effective marine protected areas are a crucial tool for preserving biodiversity, building resilience, and ensuring a healthy ocean for future generations.

On World Oceans Day, we join millions of people around the world in calling for greater protection, greater accountability, and collective action for our blue planet. The future of our oceans will not be shaped by knowledge alone, but by how we act on the knowledge we have.

On this World Oceans Day, we invite everyone to commit to one action—big or small—to help the ocean. Change begins with the choices we make, the conversations we have, and the causes we support.

We will continue to amplify the voices of young people. What will you do for our oceans?
