MAKE OR BREAK
The world is under pressure from multiple fronts at once. Geopolitics, energy policy, technology, and security are being put to the test. For us, with our strong ties to global markets, the effects are felt quickly. Will the systems hold up, or will they collapse?
Power, markets, and framework conditions are shifting faster than they have in a long time, and much of what we have taken for granted is under pressure at the same time. Can our systems and our open, trust-based social model withstand the test that lies ahead?
In English, the phrase“Make or Break”is usedto describesituations that determine whether something succeeds or fails. In Norwegian, we say:
Make or break it.
The world changes every year. And the Annual Conference changes along with it. Here, you can take a step back and see the big picture of what’s happening in the world—and how it will affect Western Norway in the coming year.
The annual conference has a long-standing tradition of sharing the most important information and featuring the most knowledgeable speakers of national and international caliber. This event brings together the most influential decision-makers from the business community, academia, politics, government, and the media. It’s an opportunity to network and gain insights that could make the difference between profit and loss, success and failure, and a bird’s-eye view versus a frog’s-eye view in the coming year.
The only event in Norway comparable to the Annual Dinner is the Palace Dinner (held since 1906). On this evening, nearly 600 top executives from the business world, politics, and academia gather for a legendary, historic event.
The Foundation Dinner will be held in 2026 for the 181st time. The menu, songs, speeches, and toasts have remained largely unchanged throughout the years. The content of the speeches and conversations around the table, however, is new and refreshing every year, often featuring a self-deprecating Bergen “twinkle in the eye” in contrast to the historic and solemn setting.
The annual dinner has a waiting list every year, so secure your spot now at this legendary, historic event!
