Municipalities must allocate areas for aquaculture in the sea. Do we have enough knowledge, and when will this knowledge be put to use?

Here, we will focus on the municipalities’ responsibility for designating areas for aquaculture. There will be presentations from the Institute of Marine Research, the Norwegian Geological Survey, and the University of Bergen, focusing on the knowledge that should inform marine planning and when and how this knowledge should be applied.

These events are particularly relevant for those working in marine spatial planning, industry, and sustainable development in both the public and private sectors. We will address some of the key issues in marine planning and, after lunch, move on to the development of a master plan for aquaculture in Western Norway (see separate event).
