One Ocean Summit 2026 – A Safe and Predicted Ocean
The ocean is the lifeblood of our planet, vital for climate stability, global trade, and biodiversity. Yet today, it faces unprecedented challenges: climate change, resource competition, and rising geopolitical tensions. Building a safe and predicted ocean means securing maritime spaces, protecting ecosystems, and fostering trust across borders, while harnessing knowledge and technology to anticipate risks and shape a sustainable future.

Session 1: A Safe Ocean
How do we ensure security and resilience in our oceans amid rapid geopolitical tensions, climate pressures, and increased competition over maritime resources? A safe ocean depends on strong international law, a credible maritime presence, effective surveillance systems, and trust between nations. This session explores the evolving security landscape and the measures needed to prevent conflict at sea.

It’s about turning foresight into action and building technology and partnerships that power a low-carbon, resilient world.

A. Ocean Security and Geopolitics in a Changing World
Location: Håkonshallen, Bergenhus Fortress
Shifting geopolitical landscapes, strategic competition, and climate-driven pressures are reshaping security at sea. This session examines maritime safety, naval presence, international law, and the mechanisms needed to prevent conflict and maintain stability in increasingly contested waters. Our aim is to highlight how cooperation, shared intelligence, and strong governance frameworks underpin a safe and predictable ocean.

B. Predicting Our Blue Future
Location:Statsraaden Bar & Reception, Bradbenken 2
This session focuses on foresight: how science, modeling, and advanced ocean observation systems can help us understand future ocean conditions and the blue economy. Participants will explore climate and energy scenarios, real-time ocean models, and data-driven forecasting tools. The purpose is to illustrate how predictive capabilities can guide decision-making, resilience planning, and sustainable ocean use.

C. Clean Shipping and Ocean Innovation
Location:Snekkerbrakken, Bergenhus Fortress
This session showcases cutting-edge solutions for zero-emission maritime transport and ocean-based innovation. Topics include clean maritime technologies, green fuels and infrastructure, circular models for ocean industries, and global collaboration for scaling sustainable shipping. The session emphasizes the investments, partnerships, and policies needed to accelerate the transition toward a decarbonized ocean economy.
