Approach and boat escort

During One Ocean Week, April 18, 2026, in Bergen, you can follow D/S Stord I out on Byfjorden and welcome Statsraad Lehmkuhl , which is returning to Bergen after a 12-month expedition. The ship has been a floating ambassador for United Nations Ocean Decade. During its journey, the expedition has visited 26 ports on three continents. Its return marks the end of a unique voyage for the ocean – and the start of One Ocean Week 2026.

D/S Stord I

The steamship "Stord I" was built for Hardanger Sunnhordlandske Dampskipsselskap at Laxevaag Maskin & Jernskipsbyggeri in 1913, and the ship sailed for the shipping company until 1969.

The ship was restored as a veteran ship between 1981 and 2013. In 2013, the Norwegian Maritime Authority granted it a passenger certificate for 99 passengers. As when it was in regular service, the ship has many salons and plenty of space on many decks. During the trip, the entire ship can be explored. Passengers can visit the wheelhouse, engine room, galley, etc.

When D/S Stord I sails out onto Byfjorden, passengers can admire the city of Bergen, nestled between the "Seven Mountains." From the boat, you can see cultural landmarks such as Bryggen and the Coastal Culture Center in Sandviken, and up in the mountains you can see Fløyen. It will be a unique and memorable journey!

The galley on D/S Stord I serves both food and drinks. The selection includes beetroot soup, pancakes, and waffles, as well as a good selection of drinks such as coffee, tea, soft drinks, mineral water, beer, and wine.
