Creative Sea Creatures is a workshop that allows students to bubble over with creativity and joy, and we tie it all together with marine biology. Here, students get to create animals and plants in the sea based on their own imagination.
In this program, we take a close look at what it's like to be an organism underwater. And we explore what we would be like if we were sea creatures!
After all, what do we know about the creatures that live in the ocean? How do they eat? How do they protect themselves? And how do they move? The students work in groups and collaborate to create a habitat with sea creatures they design themselves. They are given modeling clay and other materials and create animals they think are suited to the habitat we are discussing. The groups work independently, choosing for themselves what characteristics the animals should have and what life under the sea is like. As the lesson draws to a close, everyone gets to show their habitats, and we take pictures of their animals in their natural element. We end the lesson by taking everything apart, tidying up, and sorting the equipment.
The program lasts one hour and is offered twice a day: 9:45-10:45 a.m. and 11:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m.
