The Norwegian salmon farming industry makes an important contribution to sustainable development. However, these contributions are accompanied by environmental challenges.

The Norwegian salmon farming industry makes an important contribution to sustainable development by supporting the transition from less sustainable protein sources (e.g., beef and other meats) to seafood-based proteins, while also generating economic growth in rural coastal communities. However, these contributions to development are accompanied by environmental challenges. Among other things, fish mortality in the industry is high, and there is therefore a political desire to reduce mortality in the aquaculture industry to 5%.

Join us for an engaging and forward-looking seminar on how this new standard can be achieved:

How can the aquaculture industry help achieve the goal of reducing mortality?
What role can technology and innovation play?
What is the role of governance and regulation?

Following presentations and panel discussions, participants will have the opportunity to take part in a voting experiment designed to drive change at the systemic level.
This is a unique opportunity to help shape the future of sustainable salmon farming. Sign up and become part of the network driving the salmon industry forward.
The event is free and includes breakfast.

Towards a New Industry Standard in Salmon Farming?
The Norwegian salmon farming industry makes an important contribution to sustainable development by supporting a shift from less sustainable protein sources (e.g., beef and other meats) to seafood-based proteins, while also driving economic growth in rural coastal communities. However, these contributions come with significant environmental challenges. There is a growing call to reduce mortality rates in farmed salmon to a new industry standard of 5%.

• How can the aquaculture industry contribute to this goal?
• What is the role of governance and regulation?
• What role can technology and innovation play?

Following presentations and panel discussions, participants will have the opportunity to take part in a choice experiment designed to contribute to system-level change.
