Students from the University of Bergen (UiB) who are taking a course aboard a ship traveling from the Azores to Nuuk in the summer of 2025 are hosting an open ship event featuring research stations that showcase the work we’re doing on board.

The field course “Climate Action: Causes, Consequences, and Solutions to Climate Challenges” set sail with 40 participants from the Azores to Nuuk in the summer of 2025. On board were students and researchers of many different nationalities, all with a broad knowledge base in climate, the ocean, politics, and culture.

Along the way, we studied plankton, marine mammals, ocean currents, climate policy, and more, and we’ll be sharing some of our findings with visitors aboard the ship during One Ocean Week. Upon arrival in Nuuk (Greenland), we also held an open ship event with over 500 visitors. In Bergen, we will focus on school students and teachers interested in learning about climate, the ocean, and sustainability.

We will set up research stations with activities on board and tailor the content to the visitors. This program is best suited for middle and high school students.
